I was very excited about this engagement session, the first one of 2013 for me. Alex connected with me last year when I posted some photos of her classmate from high school for my year end portfolio. Alex followed my work and was incredibly supportive of my photography. I was SUPER ecstatic when I saw her Facebook status "ENGAGED", and then shortly after I received an email asking me to shoot their Engagement photos. I was very flattered and blessed that I got to photograph this Jesse & Alex. We decided on going to Esquimalt Lagoon, for a west coast feel to the shoot. These are the days I LOVE living on the island. We are so incredibly lucky to live around the water and to have such incredible views and locations to photograph. Alex was a doll! She wanted to incorporate their dog, Betsy (who is ADORABLE) and a few props in the shoot to make it more personal, which I was super excited about. The afternoon started out to be a bit windy, but we managed to make it work. We walked around the ocean, chatting along the way and getting to know them more. We ended the shoot by taking a short drive over to Hatley Castle, where the day previous I managed to find an abandoned basketball court with spring flowers blooming. It was a wicked spot to be by ourselves and get some amazing photos of these two.
